THE Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has commended Fidson Healthcare on giant strides the company is making in local manufacturing of essential medicines.

President PSN, Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, who led a powerful team of some National Executive Council (NEC) members of the Society to a familiarization visit of reportedly the biggest pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in West Africa, Fidson, on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Ota, Ogun State, said: “Honestly, we were highly impressed and encouraged. This is a great achievement in our march towards achieving national security through the supply of quality medicines at affordable prices.

“No doubt pharmaceutical sector can be a goldmine if given the required attention by the government and by so doing maintaining the medicines in the exclusive lists of the constitution not as suggested by El-rufai APC committee that food and medicines should be transferred to concurrent lists.”

A team from Fidson, led by the Executive Director, Operations, Biola Adebayo, received the PSN members.

Yakasai added: “After going round the facility, we all agreed that the factory is a world class with all the ultra modern facili- ty - high-tech machinery you can think of anywhere in the world. Incorporated the state of the art facility producing tablets, capsules, dry powder, liquids, cream and ointment and indeed large and massive lines of intravenous fluids.

“Fidson is no doubt a national pride. This is the only way I can define the love and devotion to our country by the founder of this company- Fidelis Ayebae. This is true patriotism in action and he needs to be encouraged and supported by government. Support in real terms, which is not only by way of intervention funds but patronage and patronage with prompt payment. Thank you my brother Fidelis Ayebae for this legacy. God bless.”
