Publisher Adekanmbi gives achievers awards to schools

- Bymaria Diamond

HARD work was crowned with success as the publisher of Scholarsguide International magazine (SGI), Dr. Moses Adekanmbi, recently gave awards of merit to a number of schools at the magazine’s ninth anniversary. The awards, which were in categories for best academic excellence, schools, students, administrators, teachers and staff, were tagged ‘SGI Achievers Award.’

According to Adekanmbi, SGI is circulated in all secondary schools to enable students have easy access to educational information that would improve and enrich them intellectually. He said the award was organised to appreciate diligence and excellence in order to motivate others to follow suit.

The SGI award, which took place at Faith Event Hall, Idimu Local Government Lagos, had many school pupils, parents and others from all walks of life in attendance.

Adekanmbi stated that SGI, a quarterly magazine, is fashioned to deal with recent challenges of youths ranging from socials, to academics and growth into adulthood, with the aim to transform and restructure future leaders of Nigeria.

According to him, “We discovered that students now find a way to sneak unethical magazines into the classroom to read at free periods. So, we thought it wise to produce something they can read openly to better their lot. SGI narrows down its content to all issues relating to youth to enable them understand their responsibilities as individuals and citizens of Nigeria.

“For them to know they are solely responsible for whatever choices they make in life, hence the need to look before they leap so they don’t land in the wrong direction.”
