- By Kehinde Olatunji

THE Senior Pastor, City of Refuge Ministries International, Bishop Oscar Ossai, has stated the Church of Nigeria has no part in the endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari by some Northern Pastors.

He noted that the church, which is made up of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has not taken any position on the forth coming general election.

Ossai who spoke yesterday at a press conference noted that those that endorse Buhari are not known in the body of Christ in Nigeria saying, “they are faceless.”

He said: “The church of Jesus Christ in Nigeria do not know those people, there is no credible voice of the church involve in that visit. The church has not taken any position yet and we praying and seeking the face of God to know what the position of the church should be.

“The church which is made up of elements in PFN, CAN and there is coalition made up of a leadership of this groups where we gather to discuss issues and take decisions and we have not taken any decision. We don’t know them; we don’t even know them as pastors. There is no familiar face among them. Not one.”

The cleric also urged Christians to be actively involved in politics to flush out corrupt practices in the system.

“It is not enough to be a Christian and remain in the confines of your home or work. Be involved in politics so that we can all do away with corruption and move the nation forward. It is an abomination for leaders to do evil, because righteousness establishes a throne; therefore, Nigeria political leaders must pursue righteousness.

“There is a lots of danger facing the country. We need to go beyond rhetoric of politics. There is need to create economic opportunities for the people. We need to do something about our politics; leadership is the key to life once you get leadership right followership will align.

“They claim to have done a lot and we have heard but what we see is unemployment and lack of basic amenities. Life in Nigeria is rough more than anywhere else in the world.”
