Use Pulpit To Preach Against Corruption, Osinbajo Tells Clergies
As Archbishop Chukwuma Declares No Vacancy In Enugu Govt House
ACTING President Yemi Osinbajo has tasked gospel preachers to join the fight against corruption through using their pulpits to preach righteousness.
He also appealed to Nigerians to stand against the plundering of the nation’s resources, as well as support the anti-corruption initiative of the Federal Government, irrespective of party affiliations.
Osinbajo, speaking at the 30th National Biennial Conference of the Students Christian Movement (SCM) of Nigeria, in Enugu, said gospel preachers had deviated from preaching righteousness but prosperity, adding that corruption had been so entrenched in the country that “if you dare challenge it, you will be in the minority.”
Also at the event, Archbishop, Enugu Province (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev Emmanuel Chukwuma declared no vacancy in Enugu Government House come 2019.
Chukwuma praised Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the good works he is doing in the state, stressing that Enugu people would want him to continue.
Earlier, Ugwunayi commended the organisers of the event for a successful convention. He said Christians needed such events to seek spiritual reformation and renaissance.
The National President, SCM, Rev. Eric Ighalo commended Osinbajo for honouring the invitation to be part of the event, disclosing that the conference was about the youths reversing the processes that had held the country down thought dialogue and collaboration.
