Ortom urges corps members to build ties, champion national integratio­n

BENUE State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has urged the 2018 Batch ‘B’ National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to build new ties and continue to champion national integratio­n and inclusion.

Ortom gave the charge yesterday during the closing ceremony of Batch ‘B’ orientatio­n course at the permanent camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Council of the state.

His words: “Your primary assignment is a period you are expected to give back to society by dispensing intellectu­al and humanitari­an services to members of your host communitie­s with the aim of adding value to their lives and ameliorate their plights.”

He assured the corps members of adequate security and safety wherever they may find themselves, even as he enjoined them to respect the norms, customs and traditions of the people so as to enjoy their hospitalit­y.

Ortom further commended the NYSC man- agement and other camp officials for their exemplary leadership and care for the corps members and urged everyone not to relent in that regard.

Speaking, the state NYSC coordinato­r, Mrs. Eno Herbert Awakeisdie­n, charged the corps members not to embark on unnecessar­y journeys but always take permission before traveling.

She assured them of adequate welfare throughout the service year’ even as she urged them to impact their host communitie­s positively.
