- By Chukwuma Muanya

THedirector General (DG) of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Moji Christianah Adeyeye, is set to inaugurate new set of compendium of registered and regulated drugs, processed food, cosmetics, packaged water, medical devices and chemical.

Adeyeye, in a statement yesterday signed by the Director (Public Affairs), Dr. Abubakar Jimoh, said the inauguration will be one of the agenda of the forthcoming stakehold- er’s consultative meeting in Lagos on August 20 and 21, 2018.

The publishing of the new NAFDAC compendium, which is a Directory of all registered regulated product is one of the major landmark achievements of Prof. Adeyeye since her assumption of office nine months ago. The NAFDAC compendium, which was originally known as NAFDAC Green Pages was last published about 10 years ago.

The compendium was first introduced by the late DG of NAFDAC, Prof. Dora Akunyili, as part of her concerted efforts to equip Nigerians with appropriate information that will help them distinguish between fake and unregistered drugs, processed food and other regulated products.

Participants at the forthcoming two-day consultative meeting include farmers, manufacturers, importers, marketers of animal feeds and poultry products, food products, cosmetics, pesticides, medical devices, herbal products and chemicals.

The consultative meeting will also afford the DG of NAFDAC opportunity to interact with the stakeholders to tackle some regula- tory issues and challenges facing the food, herbal, medical devices, veterinary, chemical and allied industries.

Adeyeye will also announce her new policy measure to combat the influx of unregistered and counterfeit regulated products into the country.

Adeyeye stressed that the Agency takes very seriously the issue of attendance and participation of stakeholders at the consultative and therefore urged all Chief Executives of invited companies to be physically present at the meeting.
