THE National chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has assured that the party will abide by the Supreme Court’s recent pronouncement on the conduct of its congresses.

Oshiomhole, who disclosed that the party would organise fresh congresses across the state in line with its constitution, distanced APC from the violent conduct of those aggrieved by the court’s position.

He said: “Democracy is about celebration of the rules of law, and not rule of mind. Ours is a party that believes in rule of law. We are obliged to respect the rule of law and at the heart of that is the total obedience to the letters and spirit of the Supreme Court’s judgment from the first to the last page.

Nevertheless, he said the party’s governorship candidate for Rivers remains Tonye Cole.

Meanwhile a cloud of uncertainty now pervades the fate of Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2019 general elections.

A newspaper (not The

Guardian) claimed, yesterday, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rejected the list of candidates submitted from the state, an allegation the commission has not confirmed.

Spokesperson to INEC Chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, told The Guardian that the commission is legally restrained from rejecting lists of candidates endorsed by parties’ national Chairmen and submitted to INEC.

Oyekanmi explained that even if a party knows that a submitted list does not contain names of those that originally won in the primaries, INEC is barred from not accepting such list, especially when endorsed by the party’s national chairman and secretary.
