Akinola Tasks Govt On Inflation, As RCC&T Begins Convention

- By Omiko Awa

TPresiding Bishop of Rhema Christian Church & Towers (RCC&T), Taiwo Akinola has called on government to work out mechanisms to absorb the high inflation rate the new minimum wage canvassed by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) would usher in when implemented.

Briefing journalists in preparation for the church’s 2018 World Con- vention with theme, ‘Walking In Dominion’, which begins today and rounds off on November 11, at the Church’s Headquarter in Temidire Sango Ota, Ogun State, the Bishop enjoined government to be wary of taking decisions that would plunge the economy into a situation where the nation’s currency would be further devalued.

According to the cleric, the bogus allowances and salaries of the ruling class and political office holders should be slashed, stressing that these huge remunerations are some of the reasons many politicians resort to violence and other vices to be elected into public offices.

Pcandidate of Liberation Movement (LM) for the 2019 general elections, Dr. Kriz David has disclosed that insecurity, corruption and economic challenges affecting Nigeria are symptoms of unaddressed faulty foundation of the nation.

According to his promissory note compiled in a book titled: ‘Smart Government–the Preferred Future,’ David said if elected president next year his government will offer smart policies that would transform the ‘Nigerian Dream’ positively and also get the country progressively on the path of prosperity.

According to him, “If the wrong value of inequality is not addressed, Nigeria will continue to be marooned in a cycle of failure and backwardness.”
