Seven die in Oyo, Ogun auto crashes

TRAGEDY was again recorded in Ibadan, Oyo State, when four persons lost their lives after an articulate­d truck owned by a dairy firm lost control and crushed a Micra car and three motorcycle­s. Eyewitness­es said the incident, which happened at the Alesinloye roundabout on the ever- busy Dugbe Road, was due to a brake failure. Three people died inside the Micra car while one of the motorcycli­sts died on the spot.

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Olugbenga Fadeyi, said: “The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the morgue.” In a related developmen­t, three persons, including the driver, died yesterday when a truck ran into their vehicle headlong along Papa- Ilaro Road, Ogun State, killing them in the process. Two of the passengers were, however, injured in the accident involving an unmarked truck and a Corolla car with registrati­on number JJJ 91 GD. It was learnt the driver of the speeding truck lost control following a malfunctio­ned brake, veered off his lane and crashed into the car coming from the opposite direction. The Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcemen­t Corps ( TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident. He said the two survivors were rushed to Ilaro General Hospital while the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
