Rotary Commissions ICT Centre At Wasimi Community Junior School
INbid to equip students with modern day technology knowledge to compete globally, the Rotary Club of Maryland has commissioned a well- equipped Information Communication Technology ( ICT) Center at Community Junior School, Wasimi, Lagos. According to the President, Adewale Sanni, the ICT center, which is equipped with computers, generator, Wifi, projectors, speaker, air conditioning units and others is aimed at enhancing students’ knowledge on technological innovations, just as the club saw the need to improve the learning capabilities of students in the school.
“The school had no computer centre for the children to learn and the principal said this is the major challenge; they desperately needed an ICT centre where students of over 1000 can learn computer. We decided to equip the ICT since the world has advanced in technology; we want our children to move at the same pace with their counterparts in other countries. With this knowledge, they will be able to compete with anyone in the world, because they will learn how to build websites, applications and other technological innovations,” Sanni explained.
Also speaking, the Project Chairman, Bello Maru, explained that the essence of the project is to get the students to know more on ICT, adding that the centre is critical for the school as it has been a major challenge for years.
While thanking the Rotary Club of Maryland, the Principal, Community Junior High School, Wasimi,
Maryland, Sadare Olufunmilola, said the world has moved to the era of technology, adding that it is necessary for the students to be equipped technologically in order to do exploits.
