PUPILS of Estaport Schools, Gbagada, Lagos, will soon start training for their annual sports meet, which was earlier put on hold by the Federal Government’s suspension of sporting activities because of the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The Federal Government recently lifted the ban on contact sports across the country.

Speaking at the weekend, Chairman of Estaport Schools Parents Teachers Association, Mr. Benson Akunya, commended the Federal Government on the decision to ease the lockdown on contact sports in order to allow athletes return to training.

Estaport Schools, according to him, is endowed with many sporting talents, especially in football, taekwondo and other contact sports, hence the excitement that greeted the lifting of the ban on contact sports.

He promised that the school will continue to be vigilant by ensuring that all safety measures already put in place by the proprietress of Estaport Schools, Mrs. Biola Awote, in line with the Presidential Task Force on COVID- 19, the National Centre for Disease Control ( NCDC) and the Federal Ministry of Health would continue to be observed to protect the athletes when training resumes.

Mr. Akunya promised that his association will continue to collaborate with Estaport Schools authorities in delivering quality education for the children, while urging the PTA members and other parents to always monitor their children at home and ensure that all anti- COVID- 19 protocols are observed.
