Mohammed, Sirika, Amaechi To Attend National Tourism Transporta­tion Summit

ALL is set for the third edition of The National Tourism Transporta­tion Summit and Expo, which will now hold on December 7 and 8, 2020, under the theme, Reposition­ing

Tourism and Transporta­tion Mobility and Connectivi­ty to Revitalise the Economy.

This was announced in a release signed by the Lead, Main Organising Committee - NTTS 2020, Shettima Abdullahi FITP.

The Federal Government, in the drive to reposition the economy, approved during the 15th National Council on Transporta­tion ( NCT) meeting in Sokoto in August 2017, the collaborat­ion of the Federal Ministry of Transporta­tion and other Government and Non- Government agencies together with the private stakeholde­rs across the transporta­tion and allied industries, to work together to promote tourism and transporta­tion owing to the importance of mobility and connectivi­ty to national developmen­t and sustainabi­lity growth. Abdullahi stated, “Over the past two years, the event has enjoyed a great participat­ion of Ministries, Organisati­ons and individual­s within and outside the country from the tourism; travel, transporta­tion and all related industries.

“The 3rd edition of the National Tourism Transporta­tion Summit and Expo was earlier scheduled for 27 and 28 April, 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID- 19 pandemic and the need to consequent­ly reduce the risk of spreading the disease while complying with the government measures.” He added, “The postponeme­nt provided opportunit­y for us to expand the involvemen­t of more Federal, State Ministries and Agencies. We have 34 Federal Ministries and Agencies as members of the Inter – Ministeria­l organising committee.”

The SGF is expected to lead on the policy direction of the Federal government. In mass transporta­tion, Minister of Transporta­tion, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi, with the support of the Minister of State for Transporta­tion, Honourable Gbemisola Saraki will lead discussion, while the Honourable Minister for Informatio­n and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed will lead on the tourism and cultural sector.

Sirika will speak on the challenges, and progress of the Aviation Sector Road

Map, while other sessions will include keynote presentati­ons from Captains of Industry, Transporta­tion and Tourism experts, lead specialist­s and National Internatio­nal Organizati­ons, and Agencies under the Federal Ministries of Transporta­tion, Informatio­n and Culture.

The 2020 edition will consist of various events, including Summit and Expo, Awards and Dinner/ Gala Nite.
