Obi seeks Nigerians’ input for better governance

VICE Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in the 2019 general elections Peter Obi, has canvassed Nigerians’ input to support and advise politicians to enable them deliver better governance.

Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, stated this at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Nimo, during the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Chief and Dr. P. C. Ilokanuno at the weekend.

He said he had to cancel other events to attend the Ilokanunos’ ceremony as a mark of respect and love for retirees.

Addressing the congregation, Obi said governance would be better and easier if the people continually stood as watchdogs to the leaders. Obi cited an incident during his years as the governor of how an elderly woman, one Mrs. Ndibe encountered him in Church once and persuaded him to settle accumulated pensions and gratuities, which he said, left lasting impression on him.

Obi confirmed that it also took the persistent effort of Lady Ilokanuno, whose 50th wedding anniversary with her husband was being celebrated to ensure that those who were being owed got their pensions and gratuities.

He explained that Ilokanuno was then a principal, who also desired good governance for the state adding: “Were it not for people like Ndibe and Lady Ilokanuno, who did not stand aside to complain, but courageously stood as bulwarks of good governance in the state, governance would not have been easy.” He also urged the people to pray for their leaders for God to touch their hearts to use public funds for public service.
