‘ Developers should focus on low- income housing’

- By Victor Gbonegun

TO reduce the challenge of inadequate homes, the Group Executive Secretary, Adron Homes, Mr. Ayo OjoOmoniyi, has urged developers to focus on the provision of affordable housing for low and middle- income earners. He also called on the government and real estate managers to make land acquisition process seamless for all income earners in the society.

Speaking at a forum, which focused on the best time to buy land or own a house in Lagos, he stated that delivery of affordable homes will go a long way in reducing the huge housing deficit put at over 17 million.

Ojo- Omoniyi appealed to the government to address issues faced by developers, especially the delays in perfection of land title documents, which he observed was affecting fast delivery of housing projects.

“Land acquisition from the government is a challenge. There was a meeting we had with Lagos State Government; we were told that they have over 7,000 Certificate of Occupancy pending to be signed by the government.

“They inherited this application from the previous regimes. It takes time because it’s the asset of the state government, they take time to sign those documents and check that there are no fraudulent transactions on those lands before signing”, he said.

According to him, developers still face the challenge of land grabbers and undue pressure from the communities where lands are located, but advised that housing developers must ensure that they buy lands that are legal and in line with states’ regulations.

“We are in close collaboration with the ministry of lands and housing, and the Lagos

State Real Estate Regulatory Agency. We are able to checkmate many of these challenges so that for every land you buy, you can be rest assured that there are no issues on the land.”

He urged Nigerians to subscribe to Adron homes’ projects as it begins its Lemon Friday, with special offers for sales of lands stressing that the discount is in line with the dedication to give customers opportunities to be homeowners through discounts, royalty rewards and friendly payment plans.

The Adron Homes boss stated that as part of efforts to promote home ownership,

Nigerians can access lands in Ikorodu, Epe, Atan- ota, Ibeju Lekki, Badagry, Ijebu Ode, Shimawa, Abeokuta, Osun, Abuja, Nasarawa and Keffi respectively with 40 per cent discount on all estates and an initial deposit of N25, 000 as well as 36 months payment plan on all properties.

On her part, a senior official of the company, Mrs, Fiyaso Oloruntoba emphasised that Adron homes is extending the special offers on some of it’s premium products like Eko city with various subscription gifts to subscribers as part of efforts at encouraging affordable home ownership.
