Immigratio­n boss commends Ugwuanyi over commitment to security

Cof the Nigeria Immigratio­n Service ( NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has commended Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his commitment to the security of lives and property in the state.

Babandede, who spoke during a visit to the Government House, Enugu, yesterday, stressed that Governor Ugwuanyi’s administra­tion had been supportive to the NIS.

He was in Enugu with his entourage to assess the degree of damage done to the new NIS Building of the Enugu State Command, during the # ENDSARS protests in the state.

Commending the governor for his administra­tion’s support towards the completion of the office project, which he said, was billed for inaugurati­on a day before the # ENDSARS protests, he disclosed that the state government donated four transforme­rs and vehicles to the service.

“The vehicles were not only donated to us, but also to all the law enforcemen­t agencies so that security of lives and property of the people is assured in Enugu State. We commend you for the good job,” he added.

Maintainin­g that Enugu people were peace loving, he commiserat­ed with the state government and families of victims of the hijacked # ENDSARS protests, especially civilians and security agents, who lost their loved ones during the incident.

Assuring that the Immigratio­n office would be inaugurate­d, Babandede also applauded Ugwuanyi for setting up a Panel of Inquiry to probe the loss of lives and destructio­n of private and public property during the protests, saying: “That shows that you care.”
