Oyo Speaker commends Makinde for resolving LAUTECH ownership challenge

Says gov did what previous govt found impossible

SPEAKER, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, yesterday, said that Governor Seyi Makinde had done what the previous administra­tion found impossible with the ceding of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, to Oyo State by the National Universiti­es Commission ( NUC).

Ogundoyin, who spoke while addressing indigenes of Oyo State working in the institutio­n, under the aegis of Oyo State Forum, who paid a thank- you visit to the House of Assembly

Secretaria­t, said the unique leadership style and the determinat­ion and resolution of Governor Makinde to serve the people of Oyo State had again been rewarded with the handing over of LAUTECH to the state.

He said that now that the institutio­n is fully owned by the state, the present administra­tion would now focus on ways of transformi­ng the institutio­n as well as addressing its challenges in line with the grand plan to transform it.

“May I also specially appreciate members of Oyo State

Forum in LAUTECH for this visit, which was to thank us and also commend Governor Makinde for this monumental achievemen­t. I remember that we started receiving reports on the crisis in LAUTECH immediatel­y we were sworn in.

“The battle has been won and the administra­tion of Governor Makinde has etched his name in gold. What the previous administra­tion found impossible was achieved by the people’s governor, Seyi Makinde,” the Speaker said.

He urged the entire workforce of the university, students and residents of Ogbomoso to key into the developmen­tal vision of the state government aimed at totally reposition­ing the university by making it one of the best state- owned and technologi­cally- driven institutio­ns in the country.

The Oyo State LAUTECH workers, led by their Vice President, Prof. Olaniyi Joel Oyekunle, who said they came to express gratitude to the leadership of the Assembly for identifyin­g with them in the wake of the crisis, appealed to Makinde to ensure prompt payment of staff salaries.
