Gospel Hour The Lord Is My Shepherd ( 4)

- By Ejikeme Ejim Text: Psalm 23: 1- 6

Key Verse: Psalm 23: 5, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” ( KJV)

ALTHOUGHI am a child of God, although you are a child of God and we love God so much and have given our lives to Him, we harbor good thoughts towards our neighbours; we plan well for our neighbours and we relate well with our neighbours, but we cannot stop someone from being an enemy. It is good we know this. There are enemies and Apostle Paul talked of enemies within and enemies without ( Romans 7: 21- 23).

There were enemies when Jesus walked up and down in His ministry. Unfortunately, some of the enemies were even religious leaders, who made themselves enemies unto Jesus. Jesus did not see them as enemies, but they saw Him as enemy. He never regarded them as enemies because He loved the whole world and came to save, but they regarded Him as enemy and struggled, strove and schemed to get Him out of their way.

There may be people scheming against you, there may be people who want to block your way or there may be people wanting to kill you. These are facts of everyday life. The more you live for God, the more the enemy hate you ( Luke 21: 17). The more the testimonies fly, the more Satan is bitter and angry with you. If Satan has the opportunity, he wants to snuff life out of you, but thanks be to God because Jesus said one hair of your head would not fall to the ground except the Lord allows it, so you won’t be afraid of the devil. The Bible says that the hair on your head are numbered and one will not fall to the ground except the Lord allows it ( Luke 21: 7& 18).

The next man against whom you’ve never done any wrong, Satan may suddenly fill him with hatred and bitterness against you, and he will become a tool in the devil’s hand to unleash mayhem against you but the Bible says in Isaiah 54: 17, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.” Divine protection is the heritage of those who have given their lives to Christ and the heritage of those who have crowned God king, Lord and Owner over their lives. Weapons will be raised against you, but they will never prosper; tongues will rise against you, but it will never work and people will gather against you but the Bible says when they gather, it will never work because God is not in their midst.

The Psalmist says, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.” The enemies are there and they are looking and Jesus prepares a table. What have you done to warrant Jesus to prepare a table for you?

Jesus comes down and prepares a table. It may be in the compound where you live, it may be in your office or your place of work and it may be anywhere.

Jesus Himself to show you how much He loves you; to show you how much He cares for you and to show how much He is concerned about you, Jesus Himself, Creator of Heaven and earth comes down and begin to prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies. They watch you sit; they watch you eat and they watch you drink.

Today’s Nugget: You are divinely protected. Prayer: Lord, give me divine protection from all those who hate me.
