Group applauds Okowa for upgrading Ozoro Polytechnic to varsity

- By Edu Abade

THE Ozoro Patriots, a sociocultural group comprising Ozoro indigenes of diverse professional backgrounds, has commended Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, for upgrading three higher institutions in the state to full- fledged universities.

In a letter signed by its President, Oke Michael and addressed to the governor, the group particularly commended Governor Okowa for upgrading the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro to Delta State University of Science and Technology.

“Not only will this gesture address the yearnings of Isoko and Delta youths for quality education, but will also boost the economic development of Ozoro Kingdom in particular, and Isoko nation in general. “This singular action, among others, is a testament to your purposeful and insightful leadership, which has, no doubt, placed the state ahead of others in development parameters. It has further buttressed your quest for quality education.

We at Ozoro Patriots and the entire Ozoro Kingdom see no better expression of your transformation agenda than in the visible development projects, like those under review across the state,” the letter reads.

The group noted that at a time when it had become more difficult for the youths to secure admission into the nation’s universities, Governor Okowa’s foresight in upgrading the institutions to full- fledged universities could not have come at a better time.

We wish to tell our Isoko compatriots that they have collectively demonstrated that we are a united nationality desirous of peace and the tenets of enduring communality our forebears passed on to us. We are ready to champion inter- clan relationships to engender peace and tranquility in Isoko land.”
