World Igbo Congress affiliate berates Uzodimma over Orlu invasion by military

- By Eniola Daniel

AN affiliate of the World Igbo Congress based in South Africa has berated the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for inviting soldiers to attack and kill Imo youths under the guise of checkmating the newlyestablished Eastern Security Network ( ESN).

In a communique released after its monthly meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, last Saturday, the group wondered why the state governor would take such steps against the security outfit who volunteered to protect the life and property of the people despite the brazen security challenges posed by Fulani herders roaming the bushes and farmlands with deadly and lethal weapons, destroying the people’s means of livelihood and inflicting incalculable loss on the local communities while leaving a trail of sorrows and blood on their path.

The group said it was piqued that while northern governors and elite are openly rallying round, supporting, negotiating and rewarding terrorists and criminal elements marauding as bandits in the North, the Imo State governor would lend himself to such cheap blackmail and politicking by inviting killersoldiers to kill his own people for daring to defend themselves and their ancestral land against Fulani invaders.

The leader of the group and South African Co- ordinator, Jeff Azubuike, reminded the governor that playing dirty politics with the lives of the same people whom he was elected to protect is the height of insensitivity.

He further reminded the governor that power is transient, hence he should use his current office as the state chief executive to enact laws that will guarantee the safety and security of all Imolites despite their political inclinations and party affiliations.
