Current Challenges Cannot Break Up Nigeria, Says Olumba Olumba Obu

THE Brotherhood of the Cross of Star ( BCS), yesterday, said Nigeria’s current challenges could not break the country.

Addressing reporters in Enugu, as part of activities to mark the 15th edition of its week- long yearly Peace March, Leader of the sect, Olumba Olumba Obu, said those blaming the 1914 amalgamation, as part of Nigeria’s problems were making a huge mistake, stressing that current security challenges and inter- tribal wars, among others, were caused by lack of love among the people.

He, however, advised Nigerians to embrace God and imbibe tolerance for the land to develop.

“Religious and ethnic bigotry as well as discrimination should be done away with. Nigerians should love one another, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, social status or gender. When this is done, peace and prosperity will be restored to the nation. God intentionally brought the Northern and Southern protectorates together and blessed them with lots of natural resources,” he said, stressing that the people’s inability to embrace one another immediately after Independence had stoked current dislocations.

Speaking through BCS’S Spokesman, Edet Archibong, Obu said the Peace March in Enugu was a spiritual exercise, aimed at seeking God’s face to instill peace in the Southeast and for its prosperity.

“With insurgency, kidnappings, armed robbery, intertribal wars and a host of other security concerns, many Nigerians, including those in the Southeast, are yearning for peace, which will come from the eradication of these societal challenges.

“It is intended to draw Southeast people’s attention to the fact that the Giver of peace is physically here in Nigeria. This information of God’s physical presence in Nigeria is very important and should not be glossed over,” he said

He said highlights of the yearly event included evangelism, fasting and prayer, sports competition and variety evening at the Michael Okpara Square, International Peace Conference Centre.
