Vector, Goodgirl LA Excite In Early Momo

- By Daniel Anazia

RAPPER, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, well known by the stage name Vector, is one artiste that is not known for predictable displays of emotions or one who gives in to the norm, but in his latest project, Early Momo, it could be said that he’s blown in the direction of Eros, the god of love.

However, being who he is, he delivers an eclectic spin on relationships and bristling emotions in the single, which he release on this year’s Valentine day, February 14, to kick- start the year.

The lyricist in the project incline towards the Afro- fusion singer and songwriter, Euphemia Runyi Ekumah, who is professionally known as Goodgirl LA’S sultry energy that radiates from her deep vocals and the raw honesty behind her performances, to feed the listener’s soul with something meaningful before the release of his highly anticipated T. E. S. L. I. M album.

An anti- climactic story, Early Momo’s appeal in the sweet exchange of words between Vector and Goodgirl LA and the way they hand over the reins to each with ease. There’s also power in their smooth delivery and the way their words bounce off Mr Klebb’s tempered percussions.

Despite being a deviation from the norm for them, the duo manage to let their individuality shine through the single. For a long a time, Vector had a supremacy battle with fellow rapper, Jude M. I Abaga over who is the king of rap in Nigeria. Both men, in 2020, squashed their battle when they both met in the third and final part of The Conversation, a Hennessy Nigeria documentary series based on the rivalry between them. The duo met face- to- face and discussed what transpired between them and addressed what caused the beef, their thoughts on each other.

While M. I had the impression that Vector just doesn't like him, the State of Surprise rapper believes Mr Icredible is cunning and deceptive. According to the Lafiaji maker in an interview last month, the beef with M. I sold their records. “Did we make money with the beef tracks? Yes, the records sold. Yes, there comes a special demand for beef tracks by the fans. Our songs were streamed a lot; I mean, we trended at number one in the Genuis. com, a lyrics website, which means Nigerians can go on and write something for the world to read and enjoy,” he said.
