Bagudu vows to sustain road, agric projects in Kebbi

GOVERNOR Abubakar Bagudu has pledged to vigorously pursue massive agriculture by providing necessary material and financial support to farmers.

Chief Press Secretary ( CPS) to the Governor, Abubakar Dakingari, said his principal gave the assurance at the weekend while inspecting rural roads that linked some villages in Augie and Argungu local councils.

“I promise that my government will complete the road projects on schedule. I urge the beneficiaries to be active participants in the process. I equally advised the people to enrol their children, both boys and girls, in school to obtain religious and western education,” the governor was quoted by the CPS as saying.

The roads inspected include those linking Fakon Sarki, Sakai, Sabla Zabarma, Sabla Maisamari, Zaddo and Bayawa Asarara as well as a new bridge at Asarara village.

However, the residents requested the provision of drinking water, electricity, health facilities, dispensary, renovation of primary school and mosque.

On behalf of the people, Danladi Maigari, commended the governor for the projects, which he said improved the economy of the area.

Bagudu added that cassava cultivation was ongoing in Augie in preparation for the commencement of ethanol bio- fuel production in the state with cassava as basic raw material.

Inspecting the Asarara Fadama land at the weekend to ascertain the performance of seedlings provided to farmers, the governor received affirmation that bumper cassava cultivation was achievable throughout Augie and Zogirma in Bunza Local Council within the shortest possible time.

Some of the farmers confirmed that the cassava stems provided could be grown in both wet and dry season to be harvested within three months with good yield.

Kebbi is also cultivating cassava pilot farms at Maiyama, Gwandu and Danko/ Wasagu local councils for the provision of raw material for the ethanol bio- fuel production.
