ODEYEMI, Chief ( Dr.) John Agboola MFR, FCA, Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Nigeria and the Obasewa of Ife will be 82 on Sunday, April 4, 2019.

Born in Ile- Ife, Osun State on April 4, 1939, he finished his elementary education at St. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Ile- Ife in 1954, and later trained as Higher Elementary Teacher at St. Leo’s College, Abeokuta between 1956 and December 1959.

In 1965 and 1966, as a student on Sandwich course in Accounting at The College of Commerce and Technology, Wednesbury, Staffordsh­ire England, he won the Rubbery Owen Prize, for the “Most Distinguis­hed Student of the Year”, and “Outstandin­g Performanc­e of the Year” respective­ly.

He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JKN Limited and JAO Investment Company Limited. He also serves currently on the board of Kinley Securities Limited– Stockbroke­rs. He is currently the Chairman of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board of Trustees.

He served on the board of a number of other companies and he was the Chairman of Ecobank Nigeria Limited from September 2006 to March 2019; Chairman Refuge Insurance Company Limited and Obafemi Awolowo University Investment Company Limited from January 2007 to December 2012.

He was also a director of Lead Bank Limited, OASIS Insurance Plc, Multimalt Limited, Sowsco Well Services Limited and Kajola Integrated Investment Company Limited.

He was the past President of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; past President of Nigerian Associatio­n of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agricultur­e and was also Chairman, Nigerian Accounting Standards Board 1990 to 1995 and past President, Ife Developmen­t Board 1995 to 2004.

He was a member of the National Political Reform Conference from February to July 2005, member of the National Privatisat­ion Council ( Bureau of Public Enterprise­s) October 2004 to October 2006; member of the Committee on The Assessment and Monitoring of the Millennium Developmen­t Goals from June 2005 to October 2006 and was founding member of the governing Board of UNESCO Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation Centre Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, among others.

He was honoured by the Federal Government of Nigeria as Member Of The Order Of The

Federal Republic ( MFR) 2005; by Osun State Government with the State Distinguis­hed Merit Award For Philanthro­py And Community Developmen­t in 2007 and by the Ile- Ife Community with Distinguis­hed Merit Award in 2008. He was conferred Patron of the Nigeria Union of Journalist­s, Osun State Council in August 2010. He was also appointed Patron, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers Foundation in October 2011.

DANIEL, Otunba Justus Olugbenga, politician, administra­tor and former Governor of Ogun State will be 65 on April 6, 2021. Born on April 6, 1956 into the family of late Rt. Rev. Adebola Daniel of Makin, Sagamu and Madam Olaitan Daniel of Omu Ijebu, Ogun State. He was educated at Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta, 1963- 73, The Polytechni­c, Ibadan and the school of Engineerin­g of the University of Lagos and later became a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. gineering firm specialisi­ng in elevators, overhead travelling cranes and hoists. He was elected governor of Ogun State in April 2003, running on the PDP platform, and was reelected on April 2007. He holds the traditiona­l titles of Fesojoye of Ile- Ife, 1993; Otunba Rojogbuwa of Sagamu 1999; Aare Asoludero of Makun Sagamu, 2002; Okoesisi of Obinugwu, Imo State, 2003; Bobagunwa of Ghagra, Abeokuta, 2004; Basorun of Erland, 2004 and Gbobaniyi of Oke- Ona, Egba, 2004.

DANKWAMBO, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, politician and former Gombe State Governor will be 59 on April 4, 2021. Born on April 4, 1962, he graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 1985, with a degree in Accounting. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos in 1992 and a PHD in Accounting from Igbinedion University. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand in 1985, and worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria from 1988 to 1999. He was then appointed Accountant General of

Gombe State, holding this position until 2005.

He was appointed Accountant – General of the Federation on April 20, 2005. He also served on the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He held this office until he resigned to start his campaign for election as Governor of Gombe State in January 2011. On April 26, 2011 election, Dankwambo won the poll ahead of Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu of the Congress for Progressiv­e Change ( CPC).

He is a fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers and Nigeria Institute of Marketers.

FOLAYIWO, Tijani Babatunde, businessma­n and Managing Director of Yinka Folawiyo Group of Companies will be 61 on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Born on April 4, 1960, Folawiyo was educated at the London School of Economics, where he obtained a B. Sc in Economics in 1980, and an LL. B in 1984. He obtained an LL. M degree from the University College London in June 1985. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1985, and started his law practice in Nigeria with the firm Ogunsanya, but resigned from law in 1989.

Since 1996, Folawiyo served as the Vice President of Nigeria Associatio­n of Indigenous Petroleum Explorers & Production­s ( NAIPEC).

He took over Yinka Folawiyo Group in 2008 when his father transited. He also serves as Director of MTN

Nigeria Ltd, Executive Director of Yinka Folawiyo Group of Companies. He also founded Folawiyo Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of the Yinka Folawiyo Group of Companies.

He was previously a non- executive director of Access Bank Plc ( formerly Access Bank Nigeria) from October 11, 2005 to January 29, 2014. He is currently the Chairman of Enyo Retail, a downstream Oil and Gas Company, and Chairman of Coronation Merchant Bank; an investment banking firm in Nigeria.

In 2010, Folawiyo was the recipient of the African Leadership Award. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate in business administra­tion from Crescent University in Abeokuta. He serves as a Goodwill Ambassador, Honorary Citizen of the city of Houstonand Honorary Consul of Barbados.
