FG reiterates commitment to police reforms
Pays N2.3b benefits to deceased officers’ NOK
MINISTEROF Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to the comprehensive reforms in the Nigeria Police Force ( NPF). The ministry’s Head of Press and Public Relations Unit, Bolaji Kazeem, stated that the minister gave the indication at the Biennial Sultan Maccido Institute for Peace, Leadership, and Development Studies held at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Abuja yesterday.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs, Mr. Tope Fashedemi, the minister pointed out that the police would be supported with modern technology, capacity building and robust welfare programme.
He said: “I shall continue to work towards emplacing comprehensive reforms in Nigeria Police, modernise police operations through equipping, provision of modern technology and capacity building.”
Other areas, he said, is to put in place a robust welfare programme to secure life and property, as well as create a peaceful environment for the realisation of our individual and collective dream of greatness.
Dingyadi charged participants to affirm the power of honesty, definiteness of purpose, and to be committed in the pursuit of big dreams.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, represented by the Director- General, National Energy Commission, Professor Ini Bala, described good leadership as the foundation of good governance and integrity the lubricant of its intricate structures.
Director of the institute, Professor Mutiu Olasupo, urged the participants to cherish what they learned in the institute, as they have a duty to Africa.
THE Federal government has paid over N2.3 billion as death benefits to Next of Kins ( NOKS) of deceased officers, the Head of Service of the Federation ( HOSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi- Esan, has disclosed.
