Urges government’s intervention

MIYETTI Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria ( MACBAN) has decried the killing of its leaders in Zangon Kataf Council of Kaduna State, urging the government to intervene.

According to the Fulani group, the Wakili Fulani of Atyap Chiefdom, Ardo Pate Kurmi; Ardo Muhammadu Anchau and others were killed while returning from a peace meeting at Gora District of Atyap.

Addressing a press conference at the Kaduna State Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) yesterday, the Director of Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Bayero, who led other officials of MACBAN, said: “It is on a very sad note that our association addresses you today, in relation to the renewed wanton killing of innocent Fulani people in Zangon Kataf and destruction of their properties.

“In the past few days, there have been series of deliberate killing of Fulani people by the Atyap. The victims include two Ardos who were brutally killed after a peace mission to Gora District of the Atyap Chiefdom.”

Bayero alleged that their killing was orchestrated in a systematic way with the support of a security operative.

His words: “Notwithstanding the violent protests, the officers of the Operation Safe Haven asked the Ardos to be driven by the Secretary to the District Head of Gora District without any security cover. Unfortunately, they were intercepted on the road. The two Ardos and Mohammed Yakubu were brutally killed.

“As the Almighty would have it, two young persons were able to beat the attackers and escaped. They are: Yusuf Dauda and Bammi Ardo Anchau.”

Bayero added that there were several attacks on Fulani people and their livestock in Zango Kataf and environs recently.

“We condemn the killings and wanton destruction of the wealth of innocent Fulani persons by the Atyap communities in Zangon Kataf and surrounding areas. The unprovoked attacks and killings by the Atyap communities are coming after several peace efforts initiated by concerned stakeholders of Fulani, Hausa and Atyap ethnic groups in Kataf Chiefdom and beyond.
