NACA empowers 180 youths, women in Adamawa

TNational Agency for the Control of Aids ( NACA) has empowered 180 youths and women in Adamawa State after a three- day training in different trades.

At the closing ceremony of the training and distributi­on of equipment to participan­ts, yesterday, in Yola, DirectorGe­neral of NACA Dr. Gambo Aliyu, said the training and empowermen­t programme were part of President Muhammadu Buhari administra­tion’s policy to engage youths and women in profitable ventures.

The DG, who was represente­d by the Director, Special Duties of NACA, Mr. Huck Kaduni, pointed out that the training and empowermen­t programme were taking place in all the six geopolitic­al zones of the country.

He stated that keeping youths and women busy would help to control the spread of HIV/ AIDS in the country.

According to the NACA boss, idleness is part of the factors that push the youth to engage in illicit sexual activities.

He advised the beneficiar­ies to utilise the knowledge they acquired, to encourage government to involve more youths and women in the programme, to boost the economy of the country and control crime rate.

The Chairman of Multi- Tasks Limited, Mr. Attah Mustapha, who facilitate­d the training, stated that it was to enable participan­ts understand the rudiments of their trades for effective operations.

He noted that the empowermen­t scheme was designed to make the target demography self- reliant and contribute to the country’s economy.
