Again, Uzodimma rejigs cabinet, raises panel on land use allocation
IMO State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, yesterday, announced another minor cabinet reshuffle, saying the move was aimed at ensuring smooth running of government’s policies and programmes.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Decla Emelumba, said in the adjustment of portfolios, the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Noble Atulegwu, was redeployed to the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, while Enyinnaya Onuegbu was moved to the Ministry of Power.
Also, former Commissioner for Power, Chief Iyke Umeh, becomes Commissioner for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, adding that the redeployments took immediate effect.
The Guardian recalled that there was minor cabinet reshuffle on March 24, 2021, when four new commissioners were sworn- in, but no commissioner was dropped in the exercise.
Speaking on the deployments, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Cyprian O. C Akaolisa, said the governor effected the change to ensure smooth running of government’s policies and programmes, stressing: “No commissioner was removed, rather it is an attempt to put the right pegs in the right holes.”
BESIDES, the state government unveiled a panel to facilitate implementation of recommendations of the whitepaper on land use and other related charges. Emelumba, who disclosed this after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Uzodimma in Owerri, said the committee is chaired by Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, with the Commissioner for Housing as Secretary, while Commissioner for Works, General Managers of the Imo State Environmental Sanitation Transformation Commission ( ENTRACO), Owerri Capital Development Authority ( OCDA), and others, are members.
He said the committee was charged with the responsibility of full implementation of all aspects of the whitepaper on lands and other related matters.
Emelumba, who was accompanied by Akaolisa, Commissioner for Transport, Rex Anunobi and Special Adviser ( Media) to the governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, said the council also approved provisional uniform for the Imo State Traffic Management Agency ( ISTMA), which Anunobi later wore to display it.
