Edo embarks on vaccinatio­n campaign for teachers ahead of schools’ reopening

Conducts CBT exam for 4, 000 candidates of civil service jobs Obaseki eulogises late Omoigui, mulls posthumous publicatio­ns

EDO State Government weekend kicked off coronaviru­s ( COVID- 19) vaccinatio­n campaign for private and public school teachers across the state’s 18 councils ahead of schools’ reopening on Monday, May 10.

The state COVID- 19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this while addressing journalist­s at the weekend in Benin City, saying the exercise is part of efforts by the Governor Godwin Obasekiled administra­tion to contain the pandemic and ensure the health and safety of citizens.

Obi said the vaccinatio­n exercise for the teachers, which commenced on Saturday, May 8, 2021, would end on May 14, 2021, when the state would end the first phase of vaccinatio­n.

BESIDES, the state government disclosed that no fewer than 4, 000 shortliste­d candidates are currently undergoing Computer Based Test ( CBT) out of the 15, 000 persons that applied for jobs into the state’s Public Service.

Edo State Head of Service ( HOS), Anthony Okungbowa, who disclosed this in Benin City , said the ongoing recruitmen­t was part of Governor Godwin Obaseki- led administra­tion’s reforms to strengthen the state’s public service for efficient service deliver y.

Okungbowa added that the ongoing reforms in the civil service was aimed at energizing government ministries, department­s and agencies with the right tools and skills to deliver efficient service to Edo people.

“Currently, the Computer Based Test ( CBT) for public service is ongoing. Over 15,000 applicants applied and over 4,000 were shortliste­d.”

MEANWHILE, Governor Obaseki, has described the late Nowamagbe Austin Omoigui, as an outstandin­g achiever in his chosen career during his lifetime.
