ESTATE surveyors and valuers have been told to deepen their knowledge of the housing sector through reading and professional development.

The Chairman, Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria ( ESVARBON), Mr. Gersh Henshaw, gave the charge at the inauguration of a new library developed by the Lagos branch of the institution in partnership with Echostone Nigeria Limited.

Henshaw said knowledge acquisition and continuous self- development was key for professional excellence, adding that practitioners should take advantage of the new initiative by the branch to boost competence.

According to him, the library will serve as a good resource centre for members and promote knowledge collaborate with other affiliate bodies across the world.

He urged all the branches of estate surveyors and valuers in the country to replicate such initiative for members.

The branch chairman, Adedotun Bamigbola, described the Librar y as a project of high importance, which has run through several executive committees of the branch in the last eight years.

He stated that the facility would function as both physical and online librar y as computers would be activated with Internet on working days.

The chairman noted that the library is now stocked with very relevant and contemporary books in estate management.

He urged students of estate management, who are members of the branch to make good use of the library. “We want members of the branch and other stakeholders to donate books to the library,” he said.

Speaking at the forum, a past president of NIESV, Venerable Ladipo Eso expressed optimism that real estate professionals would benefit from the resource centre, which according to him will promote research and development in the industry.
