Oyo govt signs MOU with NDE to tackle unemployment
Makinde hands over 18- seater bus to CCII
THE Oyo State Government and the National Directorate of Employment ( NDE), yesterday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) to reduce unemployment among the residents of the state, especially the youth.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who was represented at the signing of the MOU by his Executive Assistant on Administration and General Services, Revd. Idowu Ogedengbe, at the Governor’s Office, Ibadan, lauded the idea behind the partnership, noting that there is a rapid change in global economy that demands new ideas and skills.
Makinde, however, said the desire of the partnership was to rapidly see to the reduction of unemployment among the youths and women within formal and informal sectors.
In a remark, the DirectorGeneral, NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu, said the agency and Oyo State Government would collaborate in the areas of skills training and other empowerment initiatives in the state.
Abubakar highlighted some of the regular programmes and schemes being implemented to include basic national open apprenticeship scheme and school on wheels, among others.
M EANWHILE, Makinde, yesterday, handed over an 18- seater bus to officials of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes ( CCII), in line with his promise during the inauguration ceremony of the 2021/ 2023 Executive Council of the body in Ibadan last week.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Majeed Mogbonjubola, described the governor as a man of his words, who is ever ready to show kindness to the people of the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the Deputy Chief of Staff, Majeed Mogbonjubola, who represented the governor as saying: “We basically want to thank God for this. The governor is a man of his words and God has empowered him to make a promise and fulfil it.”
The President- General, Oluyemisi Adeaga, who received the bus on behalf of the Council, expressed happiness with the donation, stating that it will help to achieve the cardinal objectives of developing Ibadan and Oyo State at large.
