THE Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission ( ICPC) has said it recovered an 11kva generator valued at about N6.7 million meant for Primary Healthcare Centre, Ohita, Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Anambra State.

ICPC spokesperson, Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, in a statement, yesterday, disclosed that a total of 1,251 projects executed in the 2019 and 2020 appropriations have been listed for tracking. This, she said, include 1,024 constituency and 227 executive projects.

She said ICPC made the discovery during the ongoing Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking exercise in the state.

According to her, the generator meant for the Primary Healthcare Centre, inaugurated in February 2020, was not supplied by the contractor.

Ogugua said: “The operatives, who had visited earlier to audit the project, mandated the contractor to supply and install the generator for effective operation of the Centre.

“The Commission also evacuated medical equipment stored in a private warehouse to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Delta State, pending the completion of a hospital project in Okpoko, Ogbaru Federal Constituency, for which they were meant.

“The equipment valued at about N26 million, include hospital beds, delivery beds, side beds, wheelchairs, pillows, mattresses, sphygmomanometers, thermometers, stethoscopes etc. The supplier had delivered the items but the hospital building where they would be installed was yet to be completed.”

She stressed that public property must be kept in public places and not in any facility belonging to an individual or politician.

The ICPC team also visited E k w u s i g o / N n e w i North/ Nnewi South Federal Constituency where it interacted with participants in the Conflict and Crisis Resolution Workshop approved for the constituency.

ICPC is currently on the third phase of the Executive Project Tracking exercise.
