- By Isaac Taiwo

NIGERIAN youths have been urged to embrace entrepreneurship in place of white- collar jobs.

At a programme ‘ Legacy Youth Career Fair 2021’, organised by Legacy Youth Fellowship of the Citadel Community Church with the theme ‘ The Future is Now’, President of the fellowship, Christian Kolawole, said the group would mentor and grant financial opportunities to participants that show interest at venturing into entrepreneurship at the fair.

One of the resource persons, former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment and currently, Chairman, African Capital Alliance, Dr. Okechukwu, Enelamah, who addressed the youth on how to build up a formidable career, told them that the ‘ future is now’.

He advised them not to be afraid of taking risks, but to ensure they engage in counseling from mentors in their chosen fields.

Another speaker, Chief Operating Officer, Nigeria’s Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme ( GEEP), Uzoma Uwagba, told participants to leverage the power of the internet and take up a skill.

Also, Head of Small and Medium Enterprise, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Ibhade Akpede, advised the youth on the importance of identifying with a brand, understanding the product or service and what it is all about.

“You need to know how to position your product, understand what differentiates it from that of your competitors and be mindful of quality,” she said.

About 28 companies participated at the fair.
