Oyo State PDP, Makinde, Ladoja, Ayefele mourn Alao- Akala

OYOState chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), yesterday, commiserated with the family of former Governor Adebayo Alao- Akala over his demise, saying the deceased was passionate about the development of the state and particularly Ogbomoso during his administration.

The party expressed its grief in a statement endorsed by the state Chairman, Dayo

Ogungbenro and made available to journalists by the Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji.

It stressed that Oyo State was going through trying times at the moment, following the death of the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Alayeluwa Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso I and Alao- Akala.

“Death is an incontrovertible debt all mortals must pay. But the exit of loved ones leaves pain and sore taste to swallow, especially when they depart at a time their wealth of experience in service to humanity is still needed.

“Therefore, with heavy heart, we commiserate with the AlaoAkala family, Ogbomoso and Oyo State. Just at a time the state and the PDP was recovering from the death of Ogbomoso monarch, Oyo got hit again by the passing of the Olubadan at 93,” the statement reads.

Governor Seyi Makinde, yesterday, paid a condolence visit to the AlaoAkala family, saying: “The state has lost perhaps its most experienced politician.”

While addressing the family members and political associates at his residence in Ogbomoso, Makinde said he visited to officially condole with the family over the demise of a “brother, mentor and grassroots man.”

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary ( CPS),

Taiwo Adisa, the governor said the late Alao- Akala was a lover of Ogbomoso and Oyo State and that he did his best as governor.

former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, yesterday, described Alao- Akala’s death, as a huge loss to him, saying he was shocked to hear the news of Alao- Akala’s demise.

Ladoja recalled that he and the deceased attended two ceremonies in Ibadan recently, the last being the funeral of the Olubadan.
