Sir Victhrills Fans At Uyo WAR Concert

-

MORE than 15,000 people were present at the Worship and Rap ( WAR) Concert recently held in Akwa Ibom Christmas Village, Uyo, where gospel rapper, Sir Vic performed.

The maiden edition of the WAR Concert, which was held within the state government’s special month- long Christmas festival, attracted thousands of gospel music lovers to Unity Park, the venue of the annual fiesta.

According to managers of the

Christmas Village, the three- hour long concert was one the largest gospel events held within the festival and also one of the best since it began five years ago.

Doubling as a listening party for Sir Vic’s recently released EP, Take Over 1.0 and other yet- to- be published works, the WAR Concert also featured notable Nigerian performers.

Veteran gospel reggae singer, Buchi; comedians, Aboki 4 Christ from Abuja, Last Prophet from Calabar, and God No Go Shame Us crooner, Prinx Emmanuel from Port Harcourt all performed at the event. A host of other talents from different Nigerian cities also ministered.

The 2021 Akwa Ibom Christmas Village festival also featured diverse events like Twinsfest 2021, the Ibom Air concert and others.

The WAR Concert project is an initiative of Sir Vic, which he developed to help drive audience attention towards rap as a gospel music tool.

In a chat with a leading OAP with XLFM in Uyo, he admitted that rap music has been tough to sell in Africa, likewise gospel rap, but noted that he has a plan to overcome the challenge.

His strategy has been to write melodious choruses bracketed by soul stirring rap verses and enveloped in different styles of beats – from pop to reggae and even to

Nigerian dancehall music. The second part of his strategy is the WAR Concert, where he sells the flair of gospel rap to live audiences.

Uduak Umo, Head of Business at Jabborro PR, which manages Sir Vic’s WAR Concert, believes that “with this strategy, we will gradually market this combination of styles and the message of Sir Vic’s inspirational music to solid popularity.”

The Uyo WAR Concert was a first in a series of editions according to Sir Vic, adding that more editions were planned for Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja before proceeding to international locations.
