Police nab 51 suspected cultists in Delta
BUFFALO patrol operatives of Delta State Police Command yesterday arrested 51 suspected Eiye confraternity Cultists at Big Apple hotel, Ogwashi- Uku.
Police spokesperson in the state, Deputy Superintendent of Police ( DSP), Bright Edafe, told The Guardian in Asaba, that the police on Wednesday stormed Big Apple Hotel in OgwashiUku, where they were arrested.
Edafe said the Command received a tip off, that some suspected Eiye Confraternity Cult group will be marking their anniversary in Ogwashi- Uku and swiftly acted on the information and located where and when the ceremony will be held
The suspects, according to him, took their heels when they sighted the police from afar, while some of them shot at the police.
“They were given a hot chase by the team and 51 suspected cultists were arrested, two cut to size locally made guns, one expended cartridge and Eiye Confraternity regalia were recovered.
“The suspects have been transferred to the Command Anti- Cult unit ( SACU) for investigation and those found wanting upon completion of investigation, will be charged to court,” he added.

N another development, he said the Command arrested one Omoraka James, ‘ m’, 80, in Kokori, adding that the suspect’s premises was raided by the Command Raider’s Unit on the strength of an information received that he deals on cartridges and sells same to hoodlums, which they use in carrying out various nefarious activities.
The PPRO disclosed that 114 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from him, while “Eagle net special squad on stop and search duty along Sapele- Benin Express way, intercepted a Toyota Hiace Bus with marked OLG 13 EFR and subjected the passengers to a search.
“During the search, six locally made double barrel guns concealed in an umbrella belonging to one Mrs. Victoria Itila were recovered while the suspect was arrested,” he added.
