Obi will be better as minister of economy, says Nwoko
Aliyu: Obi may make it in 2027, 2031, not 2023
FORMER member of the House of Representatives, Ned Nwoko, has stated that the presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party ( LP), Mr. Peter Obi, lacks the structure required to lead the country.
Speaking in a BBC interview, Nwoko praised the former Anambra State governor’s demeanour in the business sphere.
“Obi is a good man and has impressed me. When he came to London, he came alone. He’s a capitalist, a bigtime player in the business world, and conservative in how he handles things.
“I will like to see him come back to the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP); he will do well as minister of economy, and will help turn around Nigeria’s economy,” He said.
Nwoko noted that certain factors in the LP would hinder him from dislodging the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress ( APC).
“LP does not have the structure to win, but has a support base. Obi is a popular candidate but cannot become president, because he does not have the structure. As a president, you must have the majority of the LP in the House of Representatives and Senate,” he added.

LSO, ahead of the 2023 presidential election, former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, yesterday, said that Obi would lose the coming presidential election, noting that Nigerians are not ready for him as president.
Aliyu disclosed this while fielding questions in a programme on Channels Television’s political programme. Babangida, who said it was too early for Obi to become president, noted that he had been rooting for Obi to become Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.
His words: “Obi is my friend and a former member of my former governors forum.
“He is an excellent person. But for his candidature in terms of the presidency, I think he will gain some popularity now. He may make it to the presidency in 2027 or 2031, but certainly not in 2023.
“Alhough the young people might go for him, but I doubt if Nigerians are ready for him now as a presidential figure.”
