Police arrest 30- year- old man for murder in Anambra

OPERATIVES of Anambra State Police Command, yesterday arrested a 30- yearold man, Ebube Oba, for allegedly killing a mother of two, Mrs. Uzoamaka Ekpe, aged 45years.

Eyewitness said the incident happened at Ugochukwu lane Nkpor Agu, Ogidi in Idemili North Local Council of the state, on Saturday evening.

The witness said that there was a quarrel between Oba and Uzoamaka Ekpe, which resulted in a fight.

He said the suspect hit the victim on the chest and face, before she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where she was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

Spokespers­on for the Command, Deputy Superinten­dent of Police ( DSP), Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident in a statement, yesterday, said that the suspect had been arrested.

Ikenga said: “Police operatives at about 4: 33p. m. on

June 25, arrested one Ebube Oba ‘ m’ aged 30 years over alleged murder of a mother of two, Mrs. Uzoamaka Ekpe aged 45years, living at Ugochukwu lane Nkpor Agu, Ogidi.

“Preliminar­y informatio­n revealed that the late Mrs. Uzoa

Mmaka had a quarrel with the suspect, which resulted in fisticuffs.

“Ebube hit the victim on the chest and face with a fist blow, before she collapsed. She was rushed to the hospital and was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.

“The body has been deposited in the morgue and the suspect is in custody. The case shall be charged to court after investigat­ions.” EANWHILE, the state Commission­er of Police, Echeng Echeng has advised members of the public not to yield to uncontroll­able anger at all times as it could be dangerous.
