‘ To develop, Africa needs more investment in education’

GHANA’S Consul General in Lagos, Samata Gifty Bukari, has said for African countries to develop, more efforts should be put into education, with collaborative efforts of citizens.

Bukari, who stated this during a familiarisation visit to Ferscoat Schools, a Ghanaianowned institution in Ipaja, Lagos, noted that educating the youth is imperative for national development. “Educating the youth means a lot, with the right and qualitative education, the sky is the limit.

The Consul General urged African countries to make education a priority in order to develop their region.

“If Nigeria, Ghana, Togo and other countries are developed, going to foreign countries on medical tourism will reduce drastically,” she said.

While commending the founder for his efforts in building the school to its current state, Bukari said her team was there to give the school the needed support. “We are happy with what you are doing and we are highly impressed.”

The Consul General, while addressing the school, urged the students to be of good behaviour and embrace hardwork to become successful. On their choice of career, she advised the students to choose from their area of strength and not be distracted by peer pressure.

The school proprietor, Felix Opata thanked the Consul General for the visit, and attributed the result of what is being seen to teamwork, resilience and hard work. Opata said he started the school with two children but today 30 years after, the school has a population of over 1,000 students in both primary and secondary.
