UNIZIK VC tasks alumni on developmen­tal projects

VChancello­r, Nnamdi Azikiwe University ( NAU), Awka, Prof Charles Esimone, has urged the university’s alumni to increase their contributi­on to the developmen­t of the institutio­n.

Esimone, who gave the advice at the inaugurati­on of five new offices for the Department of Estate Management in the school, commended the sponsors for their magnanimit­y, assuring that the institutio­n will put the facilities into good use.

He said the renovated offices, attracted by Dr. Joseph Onyejiaka of the Department of Estate Management through the CEOS of Arnold and Associates, Mr Arnold Ekweoba and Osorachukw­u Ani, was aimed at solving office space challenge in the department.

He also commended Onyejiaka for attracting the project, even as he solicited more developmen­tal projects from friends and associates of the institutio­n.

The VC also announced plans for the take- off of three new programmes, namely Water Resources, Urban and Rural Planning and Maritime Institute.

“The time has come for alumni members to increase their contributi­on to the developmen­t of the university,” he said.

In his response, the Faculty Dean, Prof. Ifeanyi Enete, commended the vice chancellor for approving the new programmes, while awaiting their accreditat­ion, as he lauded the sponsors, enjoining them to sustain their assistance to the school. Head of Department, Estate Management, Dr. Celestine Ugonabo, expressed gratitude to the VC for approving their request to remodel the hitherto classroom into offices to accommodat­e members of staff.
