It is rather unfortunate that many people still depend on the things and pleasures of the world for salvation, rather than to serve God and enter into His eternal life hereafter. This is why Prophet Joel lamented in Joel 3: 14- 16 saying: “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. 15: The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. 16: The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”

Prophet Joel noted that despite the day of the Lord — the day when the sun and moon will withdraw their lights and darkness will rule the day — being near, many people are still in the valley of decision. There is need for quick decision and action now that the grace is still available and opportunity abounds for repentance. God is calling on all men to come to the knowledge of the truth, accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; so that, they will be saved when the trumpet shall sound. Time waits for no one and it will rather be unfortunate that after the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross, people still go to hell fire. This is contrary to the will of God for man.

Matthew 9: 36- 38 says: “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37: Then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. 38: Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Today a lot of people are confused and do not know this because they have not been properly guided. There is need for believers, missionaries and evangelists to go into the field to preach the gospel. Many people who are wallowing in wealth think all is well with them, not knowing that their souls have been mortgaged with earthly possessions that lead one nowhere. They have faith in their earthly possessions, forgetting that the giver of the wealth will one day ask them to give account of how they lived their lives on earth. The poor on the other hand are thinking that God has forgotten them, not knowing that they are to put their faith in God. They are to serve Him despite their poverty, because salvation and eternal life in heaven are more important than earthly wealth. Christ died for all and wants all that He died for to be saved. 2 Corinthians 5: 14- 15 says: “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead. 15: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”

Our Lord Jesus Christ died for all, therefore, believers are to go into the field to preach and bring unbelievers to the knowledge of the truth. Their salvation is more important t han all the things of this world. Let no man think he is comfortable and has lived a fulfilled life when he is yet to accept Jesus Christ as his/ her Lord and Saviour. Christ is today calling y ou to repentance, you are to heed to that call to make heaven hereafter.
