Igbo in diaspora flay S’east govs for manipulation, deceit

- By Kehinde Olatunji

WORLDIgbo Congress ( WIC) has condemned political manipulations and deceitful measures adopted by Igbo governors. The Chairman of WIC, Prof. Anthony Ejiofor, expressed concern over the worry generated by mischievous behaviours in the corridors of power, which have become instrument of destruction for groups, who do not wish to see Igbo given their due honour and pride of place in the Nigerian experiment.

The group noted that it has become clear to Ndigbo that Governor Charles Soludo of

Anambra State has abandoned his mission of solving the state’s issues to focus on rubbishing the people he campaigned to serve.

Ejiofor disclosed that Igbo in the diaspora, who rooted and worked for Soludo’s 2021 election as governor of the state, feel betrayed by his attempt to deliver the Igbo to their adversaries on a platter. The group stressed that Igbo in the diaspora, who saw the emergence of Soludo as a blessing for the Igbo nation, especially at a time unity of purpose is desired across Southeastern states, now see otherwise.

The group said that the overzealousness of Igbo governors to impress the Nigerian political caliphates, in Abuja, has destroyed the Igbo political class.

In a statement, which was made available to The Guardian, the group said: “The abandonment of duty has caused serious leadership vacuum in Igbo land, where politicians have become weakened by the same political apparatus, prescribing service to a horse race at the detriment of Igbo people.

“This act from Soludo to wreak havoc against his kinsman is what Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State did to former governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, accusing him of not supporting the release of Nnamdi Kanu as siting governor.

“Soludo has remained caught up in ordinary Nigerian politics, and refused to wake up. He is drowning in the same ocean of confusion with his fellow political class.

“WIC, in concert with its organs and affiliates around the world, condemns Soludo’s recommendation.”
