Federal civil servants and the public were barred from accessing government offices in Abuja over COVID19 vaccinatio­n. Those who could not present proof of vaccinatio­n and negative PCR tests were stopped from gaining entrance to the federal secretaria­t. Due to surge in cases of COVID19, presidenti­al steering committee on COVID- 19 led by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, announced in October that civil servants without proof of vaccinatio­n will not be allowed to access government buildings starting from December 1.

Arsenal Women 11– 1 Bristol City Women broke record for most goals scored in a FA Women's Super League match, with Vivianne Miedema involved in 10 of the 11 Arsenal goals.

• 2016 - Nigeria

Nobel prize- winning author, Prof. Wole Soyinka said he has fulfilled his pledge to throw away his U. S. residency green card and leave the country if Donald Trump won the presidenti­al election.

• 2015 - Nigeria

After a month's siege to his Abuja home and legal fireworks, former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki ( rtd.) was arrested for interrogat­ion over the $ 2bn phoney arms deals.

• 2014 - Nigeria

Islamic extremists, Boko Haram, struck two state capitals of Yobe and Borno, with twin blasts at a crowded market and destroyed a police base leaving at least 77 people dead.

• 2012 - Brazil

800 people held a protest march against the privatizat­ion of Brazil's iconic Maracana Stadium. Built for the 1950 World Cup, Maracana is being renovated for the city's upcoming sporting events that include the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2016 Olympics and final match of 2014 World Cup.

• 2010 - S/ Africa

On World AIDS Day, South Africa counted the world’s largest HIV- positive population with 5.7 million people infected, over 11% of its 50 million people.

• 2008 - USA

Pres.- elect Barack Obama picked former campaign rival Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state and announced that Robert Gates would remain as defense secretary.

• 1991 - Ukraine

Cold War: Ukrainian voters overwhelmi­ngly approve a referendum for independen­ce from Soviet Union.
