Two men sexually assault, kill two elderly women in Ondo

Oof Ondo Police Command have arrested two men for alleged sexual assault and killing of two elderly women in the state.

The suspects allegedly committed the crime in the Costain, Ore area of Odigbo Local Council, as well as in Akure, the state capital, where they were working as farm labourers.

One of the suspects, Mima Chinechere­m, 27, was accused of assaulting and killing an 80- year- old grandmothe­r, Felicia Aderibigbe, at her farm in Costain Community.

Just like a script they had both prepared, a 29- year- old Togolese, Mustapha Gbegele, also a labourer, murdered his 58- year- old landlady, Adijat Olaoye, in an attempt to abuse her sexually inside her room in the Fanibi area of Akure.

Parading the two suspects alongside 16 others allegedly involved in different crimes, the state’s Commission­er of Police, Taiwo Jesubiyi, said the suspected murderers would be prosecuted in line with relevant laws.

Speaking through the Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Funmi OdunlamiOm­isanya, Jesubiyi said seven suspected cultists were also arrested in connection with the recent cult killings in Owo.

On the arrested cultists, the police boss said: “Based on the dreadful activities of cultists in Owo and its environs, the Command organised raids of affected areas, led by Area Commander Owo. The team, which included all tactical formations, invaded their hideouts, where the following suspects were arrested.

The suspects are: Fadaunsi Monday, 27, Oluwafemi Ajayi, 34, Adewale Monday, 22, Olopona Olamide, 27, Ifedayo Michael, 20, Isiaka Jimoh 30, and Olatunji Ojo, 35.
