Abiodun, Akeredolu, Sobanke, Others Grace Diocese Of Remo Synod, Task Christians On Faith In God
TDiocese of Remo Church of Nigeria ( Anglican Communion), last Sunday, ended its first session of the 14th Synod with theme: “Examine Yourself Whether You Are In The Faith,” taken from 2 Corinth. 13: 5.
Held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Ijoku Sagamu, Ogun State, the gathering served as avenue to unveil and launch the 40thanniversary celebration Logo of the Synod.
The assembly attracted the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi; the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who was also represented by his Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olufemi Agagu; the Akarigbo of Remo, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi; the Bishop of the Diocese of Omu- Aran, Rt. Reverend Festus Oyetola Sobanke; Bishop of the Diocese of Osun, Rt. Reverend Foluso Olugbenga Babatunji; Venerable Francis
Eniola Oladele Olojede, House of the Clergy and House of Laity, among others.
In his goodwill message, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, enjoined Christians to appreciate what God has done for them, adding that anybody who has seen the goodness of God would not think of killing his brother.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, assured that his administration would consolidate his good works and make the state an enviable one for everyone to be proud of.
For the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who was also represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olufemi Agagu, commended the Diocesan Bishop, Most Reverend ( Dr.) Michael Olusina Fape and members of his Diocese for organising the Synod.
The host Bishop and President of the Synod, Most Reverend Fape in his charge tasked Christians to examine themselves in the mirror of God’s word to ensure if they are still standing in God’s presence.
He said: “Nevertheless, we have not reached the ultimate goal of perfection in our journey of faith, but we shall continue to daily strive to ensure that we do not relent on our efforts, as we seek to reflect the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.” He reminded the church of Matthew 16: 24- 26 that says: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
The Bishop lamented how events within the country and across the globe have made many Christians to backslide, stressing that many think honesty and godly lifestyle, no longer attract reward.
He called on those that have backslidden to retrace their steps and return to Jesus Christ.
The cleric also urged the President- elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rejig the economy for good, improve citizens’ wellbeing and make infrastructural development a priority.
Commending Governor
Dapo Abiodun, the Bishop said his victory at the polls was of God’s doing. He applauded him for his decision to improve on housing scheme, revive the agricultural sector, constructing good road networks, paying pensioners’ arrears, and providing adequate security in the state as well as revisiting the abandoned agro- cargo international airport along Iperu- Ilisan road.
