Ogudu- Alapere link road: Sanwo Olu tasks motorists, residents on maintenanc­e culture

LState governor, Babajide Sanwo- Olu, has tasked motorists and residents using the new Ogudu- Alapere link road and Prince Adesoji Ajose Street, Ogudu, on maintainin­g the infrastruc­ture.

The governor, who spoke at the commission­ing of the projects, promised the community to expect more.

He said in the last four years, the administra­tion has painstakin­gly reworked the state’s transporta­tion master plan, putting in place the required infrastruc­ture that will bedrock and drive the implementa­tion of laudable initiative­s in the sector for the optimal benefit of Lagosians.

He congratula­ted the traditiona­l ruler and people of the community for the completion of the project, saying Ogudu is one of the most serene and peaceful parts of Lagos, and its proximity to the Third Mainland Bridge makes it one of the desirable neighbourh­oods in Lagos. Mainland.

He said: “As a government, we will continue to offer respite and succour to road users in the state by putting in place an enduring framework for the delivery of road infrastruc­ture as well as for the provision of supporting drainage infrastruc­ture to sustain these roads.

“We have commission­ed many projects, which includes the Ogudu/ Alapere link road and all our projects are commission­ed for the betterment of the people of Lagosians.

“We are not going to stop, we will continue to do more for the people of Lagos, we will fulfill all the promises we have made. The Community Developmen­t Associatio­ns in this area should assume responsibi­lity for all these projects/ roads by ensuring that they are kept clean and protect them by ensuring that the drains are free of refuse.”

On her part, outgone Special adviser on Works and infrastruc­ture, Aramide Adeyoye, extolled the governor’s vision in improving the ease with which people can commute from one point to another in line with the State Transport Master Plan ( STMP).

She said before the project inception and the administra­tion’s interventi­on, the existing roads were without drainage facilities and disconnect­ed, but now the constructe­d road will help in reducing travel time in the axis and man- hour loss in traffic gridlock around Ogudu roundabout.
