Police arraign 52- year- old Ejigbadero for impersonation

Fallegedly parading himself as a member of a chieftaincy family with an intent to be crowned the “Baale” of Alimosho town, the police, yesterday, arraigned a 52- year- old man, Abiodun Ejigbadero, before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos.

Ejigbadero was arraigned on a four- count charge bordering on forgery, perjury and impersonation before Chief Magistrate ( Mrs.) Adeola Olatubosun.

The police prosecutor, Rita Momah told the court that the defendant forged a land document dated December 18, 1974, with the intent to prejudice Olubunmi Olubimi’s family.

Momah told the court that the defendant and others still at large sometime in August 2022 committed the offences in Alimosho area of Lagos State.

The prosecution said the defendant allegedly made a false statement on oath in suit No. ID/ 966ILMW/ 2022, where he misrepresented himself as one Prince Ishola Akapo.

The prosecutor further alleged that the defendant fraudulently presented himself to the office of Local Government Chieftaincy Affair, Alimosho council, as a member of the Olubunmi Chieftaincy family with an intent to be crowned a traditional ruler in Alimosho, a representation, he knew to be false.

His offences contravened provision of Sections 85( 1), 365( 1), 380( 1), and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Following the defendant’s not guilty plea, the Chief Magistrate, granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

She also ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years of tax payment to the Lagos State government, and adjourned to July 24, 2023, for hearing.
