Governor Sanwo Olu Vs Nigerian Soldiers

-

WHEN T4T warned of the imminent danger of some young soldiers threatening civilians in recorded video messages posted on the Internet, little did he know that the trickle would soon turn into a flood.

It did, last week, when a young soldier ( well, the army authorities could plausibly deny the person in the video is not one of them) threatened the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide SanwoOlu, in a vile manner that should make an ordinary civilian like T4T very afraid of this country at the moment. And what did Sanwo- Olu do?

The Governor's convoy recently ran into some commercial motorcyclists popularly called ' okada' riding against traffic and ordered the arrest of the riders. As one of the suspects was being dragged into an SUV, he, in a last ditch effort to secure his freedom, said: "Oga, I am a soldier o".

That statement got the number one citizen of Lagos angrier and he replied: "That is the more reason why you should be arrested and let me see who will come for your freedom." The short video went viral online.

A day after, this young man, purportedly a soldier ( he was spotting a military camouflage) came online and was cursing and riling at the Governor and at a point threatening him that he was lucky it was not him SanwoOlu arrested that day. And T4T wondered what he would have done if it was him. Maybe he would have used his military combat skills to bring down the Governor and his armed security details, all by himself in a Rambo fashion or what?

Now, the issue is not even about the threat to Sanwo- Olu, but the way and manner young soldiers come online to issue threats to everyone in any issue and this again makes T4T wonder if there are no Social media rules guiding the Nigeria military? What is the Army chief and his other officers doing while young soldiers appear to have gone rogue under their noses displaying this high level of indiscipline never known in the history of the Nigeria military?

Another soldier, days after came online and threatened Verydarkblackman, an online Social media activist for daring to condemn the act of the soldier who rode his okada against traffic. He said everything short of threatening the young man with death.

Wait a second, with the high degree of insecurity across the land, we still have soldiers that are so idle enough to be reacting to every issue online in such crude and uncouth manner? Or do they take a break from chasing Boko Haram terrorists, bandits and other dangerous criminals roaming free in the northern part of the country to use the Internet to threaten everyone?

The Chief of Army staff has a lot of work to do. Something is definitely not right with the present crop of soldiers under his command. Discipline has taken flight and Nigerian civilians are at risk in the hands of these young, reckless, indisciplined and blood thirsty soldiers roaming the space called Nigeria. The army chief, Taoreed Lagbaja, T4T heard, has confirmed the arrest of the unruly soldier.

Lagbaja said the action of the soldier who violated traffic law in Lagos, did not represent the values of the Nigerian Army. He also disclosed that the army had arrested the soldier seen in the viral video criticising and threatening Sanwo- Olu over the traffic incident. “I want to say that the soldier that was apprehended by the Governor of Lagos State while plying on a one- way, does not represent the Nigerian Army. In every respect, he contravened what we stand for, which is discipline. He also contravened the Constitution and the law of Lagos State. We frown at that as the army.

“It’s only one soldier who had done that ( referring to the soldier who criticised the governor). The army has investigated, that soldier has been apprehended and we are investigating. For every other comical acts that you have seen on social media, they are not personnel of the Nigerian Army, we have investigated that”.

T4T hopes the other videos where soldiers were seen threatening civilians with violence are not those oga Lagbaja referred to as ' comical' acts.

It's Turn Of Tiwa Savage Vs Davido

T4T woke up to the news of Afro pop singer, Tiwa Savage's claim of colleague, Davido threatening her with God knows what. Guess this is the season of threats, perhaps.

And to show how seriously Aunty Tiwa took Davido's ' threat', she has filed a petition against the latter over alleged threat of assault and grievous bodily harm. In the petition addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, and dated January 9, 2024, Tiwa stated that Davido threatened to “f** k me up”. This according to aunty Tiwa amounted to a "direct threat to her rights to life, privacy and dignity.

“I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, Tiwatope Omolara Savage, and David Adeleke. On December 23 ( 2023), I made a post, which included myself and Sophia Momodu on my Instagram Story. And Mr. David Adeleke messaged my manager who’s also part of his management team that I should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very disrespectful, malicious and derogatory words to my person.

“The events of that day have led to a barrage of calls from our mutual connections, asking me what I did to him that he’s upset that I chose to maintain a relationship with his daughter, Imade’s mother, Sophia Momodu who he’s having issues with I, therefore, would like to make this complaint, and to state that in the event that anything untoward or harmful were to happen to me and member of my family, I will like the Nigerian Police Force to hold Mr. David Adelek responsible,” aunty Tiwa cried out in the petition.

Well, let the police settle this matter. But as for T4T own side, if Davido dey vex say Tiwa dey roll with im Baby mama, that is childish to say the least. Wetin kwansign Tiwa with Davido as per Spohie Momodu?
