LAGOS State Governor, Babajidesanwo- Olu, yesterday, called on residents of the state to continue to support members of the Armed Forces and their families.

Sanwo- Olu, who stated this during the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day special Sunday service, said that the yearly event is important because it helps to appreciate the sacrifice of the departed fallen heroes as well as praying for the continued repose of their souls.

The governor, represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyannwo, added that it is also an opportunity to remember the families left behind as well as those who have become incapacitated one way or the other as a result of injuries sustained in the war front.

In his sermon, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles ( MFM), Daniel Olukoya, said that sacrifice is very important if anyone wants to amount to anything in life.

Olukoya, who was represented by Assistant General Overseer of MFM, Ladoja Abiodun, noted that many of the youths do not go through the route of sacrificing to attain greatness, because they want to go through the easy route, making them get involved in many illegalities. He said: "If you ever succeeded without sacrifice, it is because someone has made an earlier sacrifice. The sacrifice of today is the pleasure of tomorrow."

He noted that good and great nations are built on sacrifice, adding that if Nigerians want a great nation, they must sacrifice to make it great.

MEANWHILE, the Chief of Air Staff ( CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has said that there is no better way to pay tribute to members of the Armed Forces who have paid the supreme price in the defence of Nigeria than to sustain the joint air, ground and maritime strikes against terrorists, economic saboteurs and other non- state actors in the country. Abubakar stated this, yesterday, while commending the Air Component Commanders of the various joint theatres of operation in the country for the series of successful air strikes undertaken since the beginning of year 2024.
