Factory worker slumps, dies over fight for uniform in Kano
THE police in Kano, yesterday, confirmed the death of a 32- year- old man, Tukur Adamu, while fighting his coworker during office hours in Kano.
Until his death, the late Adamu was a casual worker at Fas Agro Sacks Company at Sharada Ja'in Quarters in Kano metropolis.
The Guardian learnt that Adamu died on Friday evening after an argument broke out between him and his co- worker, James Isma'il, 32, over the factory’s uniform.
The argument eventually degenerated to exchange of blows and use of dangerous tools.
Adamu sustained injuries and was later confirmed dead at a hospital where he was taken for treatment.
It took timely intervention of the police to calm youths of the community who attempted to set the factory ablaze over Adamu's death. Spokesperson for Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the development, said the police received a distress call, following the incident, and have since maintained sanity in the area.
According to him, Isma'il has been arrested.
He said: "On January 21, 2024, at about 8: 30 a. m., a distress call was received through the command's emergency number, that fighting erupted between two staff of Fas Agro Sacks Company, located at Sharada Ja'in Quarters Kano, which led to the death of one Tukur Adamu, 32, ' m', of Dango Sharada Ja'in Quarters Kano. "On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, ordered the immediate deployment of operatives, led by Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) Sharada Division, SP Abdulrahim Adamu, to the scene.
"On arrival, the body was rushed to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, where a medical doctor certified the deceased dead, whereas the suspect, James Isma'il, 32 , ' m', was arrested. Similarly, 13 thugs were also arrested.
