Group laments use of its identity to perpetrate crime, violence

- By

BROTHERS Across Nigeria ( BAN), also known as Buccaneers Confraternity, yesterday, warned unscrupulous citizens against using its identity to commit crime and other unpatriotic acts.

Addressing the media in Lagos, the group’s global president, Azubuike Onowu, said: “For a long time, all manner of unauthorised people have been using our name and paraphernalia, oftentimes behaving in ways at odds with our brand identity, and all that we represent.

“In a recent distressing viral video, miscreants wearing regalia that has our logo gruesomely decapitated an animal ( ostensibly a dog) in what appears to be some form of ritualistic sacrifice. This can never be BAN or its way of life or operation.”

He clarified: “Buccaneers Confraternity is a global association registered in

Nigeria and in several countries across the globe. We respect the rule of law and uphold all humans and animals, as well as the right to be treated with respect as an individual with inherent value.”

Warning non- members to desist from using the group’s name to perpetrate crime, atrocities, and violence, Onowu said: “This includes content creators, who misrepresent the confraternity to drive traffic, while, at times, using the misrepresented content to mislead or defraud members of the public.” He added: “With this ceaseand- desist notice, our legal team has been instructed to commence legal action against any impostor or unauthorised user of Buccaneers Confraternity ( BC) or Brothers Across Nigeria ( BAN) brand collateral. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that this constant defamation and abuse of our brand is put to an end.”
